How we rate candidates

Candidates were evaluated based on our interactions with them, publicly available information, and/or their responses to our questionnaire. As a nonpartisan organization, our ratings focus specifically on each candidate’s record, actions, and statements relating to the safety and dignity of the Jewish community and the security and well-being of Israel.

Endorse

Our highest level of support

These candidates have demonstrated a strong record of standing with and taking meaningful action in support of the Jewish community and the well-being of Israel.

Recommend

Expressed support

These candidates have expressed support for the safety and dignity of the Jewish community and for the security and well-being of Israel through their statements, positions, or questionnaire responses.

Oppose

Undermines our community

These candidates have taken actions, supported positions, or made statements that we believe undermine the safety or dignity of the Jewish community or the security and well-being of Israel. Examples include:

  • Opposition to legislation in support of the Jewish community and/or support of legislation that would harm us (e.g., AB2159).
  • Endorsement by groups and organizations known to be hostile to our community.
  • Public statements demonizing or delegitimizing Israel and/or denying its right to exist [as with the IHRA definition of antisemitism, ordinary criticism of the Israeli government and its policies is fully acceptable.]
  • Public statements vilifying candidates receiving donations from Jewish or pro-Israel groups.
  • Refusal to apply existing, otherwise neutral rules, such as time, place, and manner restrictions, or codes of decorum, to unlawful conduct by anti-Jewish groups.
  • Platforming or being platformed by known anti-Jewish figures (such as Hasan Piker, Nick Fuentes, etc.).
  • Calling for or endorsing violence against Jews.
